Short-term Care

Many hospice patients who live in their own homes can benefit from a short period (usually two or three weeks) of in-patient care at Agape House, after which time they return home. Some may be experiencing pain or other symptoms, such as sickness and a short stay in the hospice gives the medical staff an opportunity to assess their symptoms and to find the right combination of drugs and other treatments to bring these problems under control. The skills of the Agape House staff can greatly improve a patient's health and physical well-being, and may enable them to return home.

There are also patients who live alone and who can thus benefit from the company and the facilities at the hospice. `Not having to make the daily and sometimes exhausting effort of caring for themselves frequently brings a greater sense of well-being.
