Who qualifies as a patient?
Anyone who has been diagnosed with a terminal disease or
condition, when life expectancy is measured in months,
rather than years.
What is the referral process?
Patients may be admitted to Agape House by:
Doctors
P.A.L.S and/or visiting nurses
Family or significant other
Self-referral
What is the cost of hospice care?
Health insurance (including HIP) covers
the full cost of Hospice and Palliative Care at Agape House.
If you do not have health insurance, a social assessment
can be made at Agape House prior to admission.
What hours can people visit?
Friends and relatives may visit 24 hours a day. This includes
children.
Is Agape House part of the hospital?
Yes, it is part of Bermuda Hospitals Board’s Continuing
Care Programme at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Agape
House is supported by Friends of Hospice, who are responsible
for fundraising, the volunteer programme and the provision
of services, such as salaries for an in-house chef and
charity administrators. |
