Volunteer

There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer at Friends of Hospice.  By working in teams alongside the Agape House staff, volunteers complement and extend the existing services to patients and families whilst gaining satisfaction and a true sense of purpose, in addition to meeting new people and making new friends.  Induction, training and regular support meetings are all part of the volunteer experience.

If you have time to spare either on a regular or less regular basis, why not think about becoming involved in the valuable and rewarding roles available to volunteers.

Please contact friendsofhospice@bhb.bm for more information about how you can get involved!

Companion Volunteers

Friends of Hospice has a team of dedicated companion volunteers who are a key component in helping to provide quality palliative care in Bermuda.  The selfless contribution they make to the organisation is vital to the quality and diversity of service we are able to offer to hospice patients, relatives and close friends.

Caring and sensitive, our companion volunteers visit patients and spend time with them when they feel most vulnerable, providing that essential cup of tea and ear to listen, or even accompanying them on an important appointment.

All companion volunteers undergo a selection process before they join the team. This includes the completion of an application form, attendance at an interview and completion of a six week training programme. They are then required to serve a probationary period where they shadow an experienced volunteer until they have gained confidence in their chosen role and are familiar with the hospice layout and procedures.

There is a new course starting on January 21st. Email friendsofhopsice@bhb.bm or call the office at 232 0859

Events Volunteers

Volunteering for events is a great way to get involved without working directly in the hospice. We have many annual events that require support from volunteers with activities that range from selling raffle tickets and baking, to event day set up and break down. There are also a number of administrative tasks that need to be completed for each event that you could help with.

Interested in volunteering on the day, email friendsofhopsice@bhb.bm or call the office at 232 0859
